Sleep disorders common in PCOS girls

Adolescent girls with polycystic ovarian syndrome have manifested  sleep disordered breathing and excessive daytime sleepiness.  These girls under study were between the ages of 13-18.

Dr Arens says, “Treatment in general is for sleep apnea” and “is similar to that in the general population adenotonsillectomy, continuous positive airway pressure, weight management and exercise.” “Treatment for PCOS would be oral contraceptive,

Treatment for the sleep disorders and excessive daytime sleepiness is the same as for sleep apnea where adenotonsillectomy, CPAP, weight management and exercise are applied.  As for the polycystic ovarian syndrome weight management and oral contraceptives would be treatment mode.
