Silent Stroke and Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea sufferers have elevated risk of stroke and most of them have been found amongst stroke sufferers. A new study reveals a new component to the demise of sleep apnea sufferrers : silent stroke ! Researchers from Alabama, Birmingham and Germany studied 56 patients for a period of 18 months and found that 91 % of those in the study had sleep apnea and had had silent stroke .

In particular, these results reveal how frequently sleep apnea is present in patients who suffer silent strokes. Silent strokes have no visible or outwardly identifiable symptoms. In most cases, people who suffer a silent stroke don’t even know they’ve
