Sleep Apnea and Cancer Death

Another componenet has been added to Sleep Apnea and that is increased risk of cancer death . Cells would be deprived of oxygen because of cessation in breathing in sleep apnea and tumors would be growing in size because of lack of oxygen. Studies were done on mice in Spain , in a lab environment, where the mice were deprived of oxygen periodically and it was observed that skin cancer cells grew in the tunors present.

Cancer cells in the lab that are deprived of oxygen produce molecules that stimulate the growth of blood vessels in an attempt to get more oxygen.
