Sleepwalking and Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea causes frequent arousals during the night  ; 4.1% of people with sleep apnea reported having sleepwalked two or more times a month.  Meanwhile sleep deprivation and fragmentation tends to trigger sleepwalking.

People with major depressive disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder have a higher risk of sleepwalking that predates their use of psychotropic medications.

Sleep apnea , when treated , could phase out the sleepwalking episodes as sleep would becomes less fragmented or not fragmented at all.
