Obstructive Sleep Apnea Link to Cancer ?

Dr. Steve Lawson, of the TMJ Sleep Therapy Centre of Winnipeg, Canada says that this study showed nearly a 5x increased rate of cancer with those with sleep disorder breathing. The study, he points out, did not say that OSA causes cancer but animal studies are showing that intermittent hypoxia, or lack of oxygen, does promote increased vascular growth and tumor growth. In order words, OSA does not cause cancer but can make it worse.

Dr. Lawson says that this latest study is just another example of the negative health effects of OSA that can affect a lot of systems in the body.
